Altan are going from strength to strength after more than 21 years on the road. 2008 was a busy year for the sextet and 2009 looks as if it going to be busier again. They have just finished a live recording
and working on an orchestral album, with arrangements by Fiachra Trench to be released in 2009 along with a long awaited new studio album.

Altan emerged from the duet playing of Frankie Kennedy and Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, playing the music which they grew up with in Donegal and bringing it to a wider audiance with their first album Ceol Aduaidh.Altan are now regarded as one of the top acoustic music bands in the World...playing venues from Tokyo to New York and back home to Donegal. They always enjoy playing to their own people where the music and inspiration came from initially. They take the stage for two nights on the 1st and 2nd of January in Ionad Cois Locha to honour their late band member and founder Frankie Kennedy.
