| The West Ocean String Quartet The West Ocean
String Quartet celebrate music both traditional and newly-composed
and display a happy disregard for where the boundaries of classical and
traditional music meet. The quartet’s debut CD, Unwrapping Dreams,
was released in 2004 to huge critical acclaim and won awards in America
and Europe. Their second album, The Guiding Moon,
featuring flute-player Matt Molloy, also picked up various accolades along
the way. To coincide with their 10th anniversary, their latest cd, The quartet has performed to critical acclaim throughout Ireland and further afield, including sell-out performances in Dublin’s National Concert Hall and Belfast’s Waterfront Hall, and has collaborated on stage and in the studio with, among others, singers Brian Kennedy and Sinead O’Connor, flute-player Matt Molloy, piper Liam O’Flynn, poet Cathal O Searcaigh, guitarist Tony McManus and the group Dervish. Seamus McGuire and Niamh Crowley, violin, Kenneth Rice, viola, Neil Martin, cello. |
