Séamus Begley & Tim Edey

Séamus Begley has been a long time friend of
the Winter School over the years and it is indeed
a great pleasure to have him back again. From
Ballydavid on the Dingle peninsula, Séamus is
an excellent box player, and is without question
one of the finest traditional singers to emerge
for a long time. In his company we have Tim
Edey, who has gained recognition as one of the
tradition’s most accomplished accompanists,
who has played with Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh,
Mike McGoldrick, Sharon Shannon and many
others. This fine duo recently released their album
Disgrace Notes to critical acclaim.
In 2003, uilleann piper Mick O’Brien and fiddler
Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh teamed up to create
one of the best-loved albums of traditional Irish
music, Kitty Lie Over, which is already regarded
as an indispensable classic. Both are from Dublin
and their choice of music and approach to
performing it will leave you completely at ease
and fill you with all that is good about our own
music tradition.
